Biography to 2003

Waclaw Krzysztof Zablocki (Krzysz, pronounced Kris) was born in 1948 in Salisbury, Wilts, where he attended Bishop Wordsworth’s Grammar School.

In 1967 he joined Midland Bank rather than take up a place at what is now UWE, Bristol to read Law. However, although he chose a career in banking, he has retained a great interest in law, so much so that, whilst Education Officer for the Chartered Institute of Bankers in the South Devon area, he taught law and Practice of Banking at the local technical college. Since 1995 he has provided some expert witness and consultancy work to a premier banking advisory firm including the renegotiation of a PFI loan of £250M.

Krzysz worked in a number of branches of Midland Bank until 1983 when he joined the Bank’s Electronic Banking Department in their Head office. During his time in the branch network he received a good grounding in the basic needs of any organisation and the various types of management styles. He also acquired the usual banking skills in connection with credit and risk assessment, as well as a thorough understanding of how accounting systems operate. His roles from 1983 involved a number of sales and sales management responsibilities where, once again, he was required to undertake some training/teaching roles. In 1988 he was responsible for Midland Bank’s payroll bureau operation and dealt with such clients as Debenhams. During 1990 he was appointed to recruit, train, install and manage a team of 12 regional “Money Transmission Managers” around the UK who were responsible for writing all tenders within the UK for Midland Bank.

In 1995 Krzysz decided to leave Midland Bank as he did not agree with the sales and customer relationship styles of HSBC, the new owners of the Bank. He still adheres to the adage that “people buy people” and was not prepared to deal with customers purely on an historical statistical risk analysis basis, preferring to treat each client on his or her own merits.

He set up Finance Direction in the same year, a firm which provides accounting, legal, payroll, management and sales support to a number of businesses who require such skills but do not necessarily wish to increase their board of directors accordingly. Through having taken this action and having run his own business, Krzysz has a first hand understanding of what is involved in “being your own boss”.

Krzysz has undergone training in the areas of Banking and related legal systems, Accounting and related software, Payroll Administration, Management, Sales, Sales Management, Business Administration and Credit & Risk Assessment. His knowledge and experience in all these areas enable him to take a global view of any situation and bring this to any analysis and solution of the underlying challenge.
